My business card

For the first time, I got my very first business card .. ! Those cards were printed .. (i believe) .. in London, UK by the printing company called Moo.com! The quality is great .. i love the type of paper used .. not really sure what kind is that (not an paper expert) .. ! Those cards came along with the black-box, nicely protect the cards inside.

It was an excited moment when i first time saw those .. :) ! Great moment anyway :) !

Here is some photos of my “busi-card”:

Very good Flash tutorials site

I’ve been looking at this site for couple days and have to say it is really good! Actually, this site shows clearly how to use basic ActionScript codes (version 3 and older), explains step-by-step .. some basic understanding of code which is helping me a lot these days.

Besides Flash, this site also shows some great tutorials of Photoshop, 3D Max, Maya etc. I can say it is great site to bookmark:

Here are some really basic tuts that really helps:

- AS3: Loop

- AS3: Functions

- As3: If statement / condition

- With sound

Internship / Day 4 / Mar 12th, 09

The 4th day:

I was actually not doing much today, I had my morning working on my flash stuffs, tried to figure out how to do preloader for my gallery. I did helping making some photoshop files.

In the afternoon, I was asked to do the banner ads for Sheraton Hotel: used external Tweener. I found it really useful and addicted in using it. I was annouced that next Tuesday, we will have the open-house event for customers.

So my first week is done!

Internship / Day 3 / Mar 11th, 09

3rd day: Jane, President & Creative Director, got back to office, so we all had a meeting. This is my first time having the company-meeting, really interesting to be there. Jane explainted to me that, in the meeting, we use to talk about how much works everyone ’s done, discuss any issue / problem. The staff will have meeting at least once a week. Because I’m still a “freshman”, so everyone (was really kind) introduced themselves again. The meeting was about 20′ long.

We all have lunch together. And for the rest of the day, I was working on some Flash stuffs, doing some Tweening, got used to what Flash developer is doing at the company.

Internship / Day 2 / Mar 10th, 09

2nd day of doing internship: Today, I started doing some exercises on Tweener, basically, Raz showed me some flash stuffs online, and let me choose what I wanted to re-build. I spent most of the morning to doing this flash one, great chance to learn some advance codings.

It was a good day, everyone was at the office and we all had lunch together, I got to know everyone better. Everyone is really friendly, they are all outgoing.

In the afternoon, I got back with Raz and we talked about Flash, he showed me how to code properly: helping me answer many questions that I had for a long time.

Internship / Day 1 / Mar 9th, 09

My first day of internship, really excited and a little bit nervous, I was ready for this a month ago so .. :) ! I came to office right on time and met Raz, Flash Developer, and I will help him for most of the time working there. We spent an hour or two to set up the email account for me (quan@carteblanchecreative.com) and the local chatting thing (iChat). By the way, they are all MAC people .. so I have to get myself used to MAC :) – not a big deal!

After setting up everything, we started doing some flash stuffs, in the first couple days, I will learn many advance Flash codings! I started with getting used to using external custom class call Tweener, which helps to “save time” and create neat tweeny effects. To understand what is Tweener, you can find the tutorial on gotoandlearn.com here: http://gotoandlearn.com/play?id=45

In the tutorial, they mention about Google Code, where you can download needed-codes: http://code.google.com/p/tweener/

To do some further reference on the Tween Class, follow the link: http://hosted.zeh.com.br/tweener/docs/en-us/

So, basically, first day, we just met up with other peoples and got to know how the office runs!

Weather feed (Flash)

I’ve done this weather feed last week for Adam’s class. This assignment wasn’t difficult to finish; however, there was issue that kinda bother me: Cross Domain problem. So, I googled it and found a good help out there. Basically, I had to use PHP as the middle path to connect to XML, this whole PHP will “break” the security problem when using XML from another domain.

Micro-site / Samsung

After spending 3 days with more than 5h/day to work on this project, the micro-site was done. This is part of the assignment for Branding class, I found it is “not much to learn” class (kinda); a lot of lectures on branding and stuffs (well yeah! you know .. ). Anyway, I kinda learned a lot on my own when working on these assignments, my way is always trying new things to finish assignment. Whatever now, too much talking, here is the link to it: click here

Abduzeedo.com

Abduzeedo.com was created by Fabio Sasso, a Brazilian graphic designer. This is not only a website but also a blog, where I find many good resources and inspirations. Overal, the layout of this website is simple, because the function of this website is giving out useful information (users come to this site for its content) ; therefore, the text is an important element in this web. The style of the layout is minimalist, which helps to organize the content easier. Abduzeedo uses dark background colour scheme with the grey text, and it seems to be a good way to bring the friendly feel to the site: the big font size, emphasizing title and other user interface element. Graphics are used carefully: the banner of the site and images for each post which have big size to catch the attention of users.

The navigation is well organized, under each tab in the main menu, there are sub-menus which are categorized following series on the site: Inspiration series, Best of the Week series etc.. which helps me to find what I am looking for easier.

Overall, this website is bringing out the well, simple design, and people coming to the site find what they are looking for. I may say, checking this site everyday is becoming my habbit now.

JPGMag.com

I found out this website couple days ago, it’s quite interesting site for those who is interested in going around and (like me) randomly taking pictures, or for those who is professional photographer: JPGMag.com

This website was created by 8020Media, and as other online social network sites, it allows people to upload their own best photographs and (for sure)  to connect to others. The special thing I like is that you can submit your BEST photo to certain themes (groups of photos on a common topic) and win the 1 year free subscription and $100 / picture if your photo is chosen to publish on the JPG Magazine. With who is good at writing, you can write a story about your series of photos and submit.
